SQL Anywhere® 10 - Introduction
Overview of Data Exchange Technologies
Data exchange technologies are synchronization, replication, messaging, and mobile web service technologies. Data synchronization is the sharing of data among physically distinct databases. When an application modifies shared data at any one database, the changes are propagated to the other databases in the synchronization system. Changes can be propagated by various means and through a variety of channels, allowing flexible synchronization systems while preserving data integrity. Data synchronization is also referred to as data replication.
SQL Anywhere has two synchronization technologies. MobiLink and SQL Remote are designed for synchronization between a central database and a large number of occasionally connected remote and mobile databases.
In addition, QAnywhere extends MobiLink to provide a mobile messaging infrastructure. QAnywhere simplifies the creation of mobile applications that interact with enterprise messaging and web services.
